Mariano Pérez Clemente,”Maren”, is a Spanish artist and musician born in Barcelona in 1946. Maren has been recognized for his skills in drawing and painting since he was young and honed his abilities at the prestigious Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. He was encouraged by his brother, the renowned illustrator Sanjulian, to pursue a career in illustration, which he began in 1979, and has since worked for several international publishers such as Dell Publishing, Bantam, Dove, Fontana, and Mondadori. Maren’s illustration work won him the award for best illustration of fantasy and science fiction in the early 1990s. In addition to his illustration work, Maren is also well-regarded for his portrait paintings, including a commission to paint the main cast of the re-release of the “Star Wars” movies in 1996. Maren has made a significant impact in the art world as both an illustrator and portrait painter and is considered one of the world’s most renowned artists.
