A new collection produced by Estartús

“Jaime Mestre Estartús delights us once again with his new collection American Black Cinema. This new collection is a completely different series from the rest of his work where he intertwined the art of painting with the Seventh art.

An unique art collection of 82 black and white paintings where the artist freezes the most emblematic scenes from iconic American Black Cinema movies. He offers the viewers a journey to the past, turning us back into viewers of all these mythical movies.

For the choice of these frames he has chosen the most significant American Film Noir Films to bring it to the oil in a small format that makes it more endearing.
Most of these artworks have been painted in black and white with all their shades of grey, that refers not only to the cinematographic period but also to an art with a restricted color range.

Estartús confesses that this collection has been very challenging for him. The challenge of finding that specific frame that makes the spectator connect directly with that movie, the characters and the moment, in just one shot.

This Estartus art collection has taken away the obsequiousness of those legendary movies and has given them a permanent value.

This series is unique for the 3-year work of an artist with technique, hand, and years of experience as an artist.

Jaime Estartus a limitless artist. He has demonstrated us again his ability throughout his course of making and undoing everything to turn him into something completely different and unexpected.”

The Artist

Who’s behind this collection?

“Why we tell stories and why we do that?

American Black Cinema is the way I feel “film noir” under the perception of a former abstract artist taking consideration the traditional american scenes of Norman Rockwell through a black and white (sometimes red) perspective point of view”
