Working for Jim Warren was a turning point in Frazetta's career. As the artist recognized, despite the modest pay, it was his happiest time, as he had the freedom to pursue his artistic desires and retain ownership of his work.

During Frank Frazetta’s time at Warren, he produced several notable works, including “Sea Witch,” featured on the cover of Eerie No. 7 in 1966 and later used as the cover for a Wolfmother album.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Frank Frazetta

Frazetta worked for various comic book companies, including Standard Comics and Magazine Enterprises. In the early 1950s, Frazetta transitioned to doing science fiction and fantasy art, particularly in collaboration with Al Williamson, producing exceptional work for EC Comics. Frazetta’s talent and versatility were further highlighted when he contributed to Al Capp’s “Li’l Abner” strip and worked on movie posters, notably “What’s New Pussycat?” His fame reached new heights with his iconic Conan the Barbarian series of paintings, leading to widespread recognition in the fantasy art genre creating his own characters such as Deth Dealer, who gained him recognition as one of the greatests illustration massters of all times.
