ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sergio Toppi, began his artistic career in 1954 with illustrations for Mondadori’s “Enciclopedia dei Ragazzi”. In 1957, he joined Pagot Studios, contributing to magazines like “Topolino”. Starting in the 1960s, he illustrated for “Il Corriere dei Piccoli”, creating the series “Il Mago Zurli” and war stories. In the early 1970s, Toppi collaborated with Daim Press and Cepim, contributing to essay collections and creating volumes for “Un uomo un’avventura”. He worked on monthly publications like “Oriente-Express” and drew for popular series like Ken Parker and Nick Raider. In 1974, he defined his unique graphic style with historical character profiles for “Il Mesaggero dei Ragazzi”. He continued to contribute to “Il Giornalino” from 1976 until his passing on August 21, 2012. Sergio Toppi’s achievements include a diverse body of work, from illustrating literary classics to making significant contributions to popular comic series in Italy.
