In this fantastic mixed-media painting, Max Pedreira portrays one of Tim Burton’s most beloved characters, the Corpse Bride. With a golden pictorial background reminiscent of Giotto’s Gothic period, the artist depicts in the center of the composition the Corpse Bride dressed in a beautiful dress, quite colorful at the top, and darker at the bottom. Her delicate face, as well as the texture of her bluish skin, have been meticulously painted by the artist, giving the character her characteristic angelic face. Behind her, a dark halo covers her around the head, almost divinizing her. From her skeletal body to her extravagant dress are fully detailed by the artist, catching even the most demanding collector who will undoubtedly be completely attracted by her beauty.

Max and his references from Tim Burton's worlds of fantasy

Burton’s vision for Batman was influential in reinvigorating interest in the character and superheroes in general, paving the way for subsequent comic book adaptations and that’s exactly what Max does with the characters concepts. He moves the character far from the comic or movies to a parallel world closer to Tim Burton’s vision of the world combined with the german expresionism he wor with.

Maximiliano Pedreira is a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is a self-taught artist who started off as a musician and soon found his calling as a self-defined figurative-abstract painter. His complex artworks take the viewers on a visual whirlwind of pictorial poetry making them stop and contemplate in depth the expression of his very own inner world and spirit and the flow of overwhelming emotions. Throughout his career, he has worked as an art teacher, been asked to participate as a juror and curator in multiple major art competitions, and exhibited his art in more than 80 museums and art galleries internationally.
