ABOUT THE ARTIST

In 1945, Dino Battaglia joined the group that published the Italian comic magazine “Asso di picche”, where he started drawing Junglemen, a series later continued by Hugo Pratt. During the 1950s, he illustrated episodes of Pecos Bill and El Kid, collaborated on illustrations for English publishers, and contributed to magazines like L’Intrepido and Il Vittorioso. In 1961, he illustrated Captain Caribe, scripted by Héctor Germán Oesterheld for Editorial Abril in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Starting in 1962, Battaglia collaborated with “Corriere dei Piccoli” and “Corriere dei Ragazzi.” In 1968, he began his famous series of literary adaptations (Edgar Allan Poe, Herman Melville, Howard Phillips Lovecraft, etc.) for the magazine “Linus.” He received the Phenix Award in France in 1969 and the Yellow Kid Award in Lucca, Italy, in 1970. In 1974, together with his wife Laura, Battaglia created “Frate Francesco”.
