This original pencil artwork by Manuel Sanjulian immerses the viewer in a dramatic fantasy world of warriors, sorcery and conflict. At the center, an imposing bearded figure stands before a monumental dark form, surrounded by skulls and armed characters. An archer draws his bow at the left, while a ship and rising smoke extend the narrative toward the right, giving the composition an epic, cinematic quality.

The drawing reveals the artist’s accomplished command of figurative illustration, moving naturally between carefully modeled characters, darker graphite passages and lighter preliminary lines. Particularly compelling is the contrast between the richly developed lower scene and the large, still-open area above, where the ruled borders and construction marks expose part of the artwork’s creative process.

Sanjulian achieved international recognition through fantasy and horror illustration, including celebrated work featuring Vampirella and Conan the Barbarian. Signed at the lower right, this unique piece is ideal for collectors interested in original fantasy art and traditional illustration.
